I've spent my whole career helping people learn and develop their potential.

During the first part of my career I taught in a comprehensive school where I became a head of year leading a team of 10 form tutors caring for 300 pupils.

After 11 years in teaching, I re-trained to design, program and produce interactive training and learning programmes. I've since produced over 100 multimedia titles on a wide range of subjects covering interviewing skills, financial management, marketing, selling skills, operations management, careers and even an edutainment programme about Sherlock Holmes!

During my multimedia career, I've worked with top business school professors and some highly creative people including actors, directors, graphic designers and writers.
I've set up and run several businesses, and my training programmes have been used by thousands of individuals and organisations around the world.

It was almost inevitable that I came to be a coach, because I have spent so much time helping people to learn, develop new skills and achieve their potential.

In my spare time I produce audio drama. My aim is to help writers, actors and directors get their work produced and bring their flair and creativity to the attention of the general public.  Recently, we worked with two very well-known actors - Sir Derek Jacobi and Joanna Lumley - to help a new director and writer get a play produced for radio. You can read more about our audio plays at: Promising Productions.

I also write reviews of fringe and West End shows for London Theatre Guide On-line.

Training and professional development

I am a graduate of the
Certificate in Professional Coaching Practice course run by New-U Coaching Ltd - fully accredited by the International Coaching Federation.

I believe passionately in professional development to keep my coaching skills current and vital. I take regular training in coaching practice and techniques, and receive coaching on a regular basis as well as coaching supervision and mentoring.

Recently, I have taken a journal writing course with City Lit, and a diploma course in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).

As an associate member of the Association for Coaching (AC), I regularly attend association events in London as well as co-coaching forums, where I practice my skills with fellow professional coaches.

Openness and honesty - I will always be completely honest and frank with you. I won't cover things up or ignore issues which are important to you. And I won't hesitate to tell you if I think I am wrong, or I've misunderstood something. I'm also honest enough to know that I don't know everything!

Insight - I'll help you gain a better understanding of yourself, and will use my own insight and professional judgement to bring out the best in you, so you can achieve your goals.

Humour - I have a great sense of humour. I use it to make you feel completely at ease, and to relax the pressure when things are not going so well. I believe that humour can be hugely beneficial and healing, and helps give us a sense of proportion.

Challenges - I'll help you stretch yourself to achieve more, to go that extra inch or two (or maybe a mile) in order to make your dream come true.

Focus - I'm a terrific listener and I concentrate totally on you and your life while we're working together. You may not ever experience anywhere else what it feels like for someone to really listen to what you are saying and how you are saying it.

Empathy - my life experiences have exposed me to an enormous range of different problems and issues. I've cared for the sick, lost close relatives and friends due to terminal illness, and had to manage through good times and bad. I know what it's like to struggle, and handle the blows that life can often deal us.

Support and motivation - while I am coaching you, I will support you every step of the way. And when you're spirits are flagging, I'll be there to motivate you and keep you going to reach your goal.

A wealth of life experiences - I've worked in many different kinds of jobs ranging from the factory floor to working with top business school professors. I've known despair as well as 'being on top of the world'.

Wide ranging interests - apart from my life experiences, I have a keen interest in many aspects of life in general. I'm an avid news reader, a keen theatre fan and produce audio drama. I'm also interested in technology, sutainability and economics.

Patience - I have patience in abundance, and offer an unhurried coaching style where we consider together in detail how you can take action to make your life better.

Imagination and creativity - I'm a creative person, and I seek creative solutions to problems and issues in my own life, and I will help you do the same. Everyone has creativity within them, and anyone can use it to make their lives more satisfying.

Partnership - coaching is about teamwork. You and I work as a team to help you reach your goal.

No criticism - I don't judge or criticise my clients ... ever! I respect my clients, their values, beliefs and aspirations.

What can you expect from coaching with me?

Coaches don't all come from the same mould. Each one has unique qualities, experience and interests. Like most professional coaches, I know that I am not always the right coach for every client. And I will tell you if I think that is the case, and I won't be offended if you tell me!

When you choose coaching with me you'll get:

About me ...
My aim is to do my very best for each client. I know everyone is unique, and that means focusing on your life and your needs. When I'm coaching, I give you every ounce of my attention and treat you with total respect.

I specialise in helping people who are recovering from redundancy, have aspirations in the arts' world, or are changing careers.
But I also enjoy working with clients who want to make changes in their lives to get a better balance between work and leisure, or simply want to get more out of life.
