Journal writing

I recommend journal writing to my clients - it helps them get clarity and focus, and can help in dealing with emotions.

You can find details about the benefits of diary writing
here :

And here's an article from
The Guardian about why diary writing can make you happier.

Wikipedia has details about diaries, as well as blogs .

There's a very good journal writing course held at City Lit, but unfortunately is is only run once a year (but check in case they have added extra courses recently).

I also attend a journal writing group called  The Southbank Diarists.
Our website has ideas for writing your diary or journal and has links to resources about diaries.

CV writing

I designed and produced a CD-ROM training programme called 'Teaching-you CV Writing Skills' to help people write a perfect CV. It is distributed in the UK by Focus Multimedia Ltd. You can buy the programme on-line or in large retailers such as John Lewis and PC World.  Or, you can click on the picture on the right to buy it from the Focus website.

Making job applications

It can be tedious making job applications and keeping track of them.

I designed a programme to help with making applications. It's called the 'Job Applications' Editor' and you can download a free copy here

Once you've downloaded it, doublt-click the file to setup the programme and then fllow the on-screen instructions. It only take a few minutes to download and install.

The programme user guide is available here

Job interviews

I have also designed and produced a job interview practice programme called 'Teaching-you Job Interview Skills.' Like my CV programme, it is also distributed by Focus Multimedia.

Competency-based job interviews - check out this list of questions. And here's an article explaining what competency-based interviews are all about.

Interview tip - always send a 'thank you letter' to the employer after you have been to the interview.

Check out this list of interview questions - they are categorised by question type.

Personal development courses

City Lit, located in Covent Garden, has some terrific courses on all kinds of topics - many of which you won't find anywhere else. Take a look at their website which has all courses listed and you can book immediately on-line.

Oh, and here's a tip - if a course you're interested in is fully-booked, give them a ring and see if it is worth going along to the course anyway - people often drop out and you may find a space on the day! A client of mine did exactly that and loved the course!
